On the klaf (small roll of parchment) lies the true value of the mezuzah. It contains two biblical passages, handwritten, Shemá and Vehaiá. To be kosher must be written by hand on parchment, and by a sofer (scribe) who obeyed the divine commandments.

Is there a difference between charity and give tsedacá?

Charity is giving money to someone in need. That’s why in jewish tradition is more common the term tsedacá. The word tsedacá comes from justice, do the right thing. That’s where your money will provide the greatest benefits and will make the greater good –this is it’s real purpose.
